Sony Ericsson Playstation Phone is the talk of the world now a day. After several months of speculations by the media, Sony Ericsson has released the first image of Playstation phone. Beginning from this initial release of Sony Ericsson’s Playstation phone, the final shape of this smartphone will certainly come out after undergoing a series of alterations in its appearance. It is estimated that Sony Erricsson Playstation definitely going be a dependable gazette and will be fitted with a range of advanced features. No, doubt its look will be much smarter than Apple’s White iPhone4 or Samsung’s Nexus Two.
Interestingly Apple has deferred the lunch of White iPhone4 till the mid of 2010 (announced in a recent press release) and Samsung launching Nexus Two by November, this year. Playstation’s initial image released definitely hints the customers about what will be its final look.
The Sony Erricsson Playstation phone will run Google’s latest Android operating system, Android 3.0 which is popular as Gingerbread also. Interestingly, the Playstation phone is one of the most advance communication devices that have been confirmed to run Android 3.0 which represents quite a coup for Sony Ericsson. The appearance of the Playstation phone is quite similar to the Sony Ericsson Experia X10 phone. But, Playstation phone’s major difference is that as well as being a touch screen phone, the underside slides out to give it’s user a fully operating games controller. This game controller is quite similar to the real Playstation controller. And the only difference is the Select and Start buttons including the paddles that have been differently configured.
The images of the Playstation Phone released by Sonny Ericsson only revealed the Vanilla operating system. By that time, it was hard to estimate about the type of user interface that the company is going to adapt for this smartphone. There are three options that Sony Ericsson may adapt. It may be a similar design to the X10 series, but it seems to be a least favored option as the X10 series phones are still running Android 1.6. The second option is to adopt a similar menu structure which is consisting of a series of menus and dropdown structures in all Sony products as well as Sony TB’s and the PSP. But the only drawback in choosing this design is the blandness of this interface and poor showcasing of this Playstation phone. The third and the final option is to go with a new interface which will fully run advance user interface like Android 3.0. It is highly expected that Sony Ericsson will approve this third option.
The big question is, ‘when the Playstation phone will be available in the world market’? Information received from various sources, it is estimated that the the Sony Ericsson Playstation phone will be in released in Q1 or Q2 of 2011. But, from business point of views, release of the Playstation phone by Q1 or Q2 of 2011 is not going to generate huge demand across the western countries. First, the December, 2010 is a great period when millions of customers worldwide buy new mobile handsets. Sony Ericsson may loss this prime business period. Secondly Sony’s prime competitor Microsoft is going to lunch its Window 7 based Playstaion phone sometime in 2011. Finally, earlier in 2003 Nokia’s playstation phone Nokia N-gage not been very successful in attracting a big customer segment neither it fetched good return on investment for Nokia. However, we hope that Sony Ericsson Playstation phone will be a very successful product in the international Playstation mobile phone market.
